Painting with Paper

The Meanderings are a photographic still life series created with interwoven mulberry painted paper strips. They are a quiet, simple and spontaneous celebration of paper, color and light. They are my attempt to paint with paper and to demonstrate its capacity to be both fragile and solid. I’m intrigued by how the paper catches and reflects natural light. The diptych format creates a pause in the flow like taking a breath and adds a bit of tension between the two disparate halves that come together to make up a unified whole.
